CCH / FIELD NOTES

Make time for tea. Make room for a story.

Start with one small question about a family object, dish or festive custom.

Passing on culture can start with a small question: “How did your family used to do this?”

At your next gathering, make time to ask about a dish, an object or a festive custom. The answer may hold a story of moving home, caring for someone, or a way of life that has become less familiar.

Make sharing a conversation

Listen first. Understand the intention behind a habit, and give each generation room to describe what they need today. With permission, keep a short recording or a few written lines for the next generation.

This is an invitation to observe everyday life. Your family has stories worth keeping.
